Where imagination meets intrigue, where simple pleasures meet extraordinary dreams beyond the seen, kAmA is devoted to sharing her whirlwind of an experimental act, in the hopes of inspiring others to persevere through despair... to find the sunlight and humor filtering through the cracks in the spirit and alchemize it into lyrics, dance, and whimsical light.
kAmA, born Katherine Maria Camarata, hails from the heart of Washington state, where she started performing as a busker/street performer at farmers markets. kAmA found healing from addiction and self harm through circus arts and songwriting, sustaining her through the darkest of nights, living by the fire of her wildest dream: to share performance art all over the world and inspire people to heal through their own art.
For a decade, kAmA has been connecting with audiences across Washington, California and in Las Vegas, sharing her act and workshops at numerous events, parties and festivals. In a whirling vortex of up to 25 hoops at the same time, she lights her props on fire, transfigures into a winged creature and brings a smile to anybody's day! She hosts community events and workshops centered around poetry, song and dance and co-produces her collaborative projects TwinSpin Circus and the Headlight Children performance collective.
kAmA has a background in journalism, PR, and content creation, having worked as a content creator for Central Washington University PR and as the Lead Editor for the CWU student news publication The Observer and PULSE lifestyle magazine. kAmA hosted a radio show featuring central Washington artists and critical thinkers on 88.1 the 'Burg called Sonic Reveal.
